Fake the Music: Slash Fiction

Slash_fiction72Submission number one for the Fake the Music Show opening Thursday, May 1.

By the way, before you go naming your band Slash Fiction you might want to google it. It doesn't mean what you think it does.

The Art Directors, a skirt made of vintage sleeping bag material, the scientific name for the Western Lowland Gorilla, and something I don't think anyone even uses anymore. All brought to you by Gord's Clam's* ("freshest clams in Alberta"!) in good old Catheter, AB.

*I know there isn't supposed to be an apostrophe there, but you try telling that to Gord.

Zoo Tuesday: Vulturine Guineafowl

GuineafowlI love this guy, looking all Dark Crystal as he does.
He's  pretty cranky and will attack your shoelaces if you cross him. Which in his world means "just trying to walk by".

Tubby Dog Dinner

Tubby

No, I didn't eat this. I save my stomach for the pure goodness of the Cap'n's Dog; a weiner smothered in peanut butter and jelly, topped with Cap'n Crunch. Now that's good eatin'!

My Favorite Shoes

Favorite_shoes"My Favorite Shoes" is a new book being put together by Modern Dog Design Co. and Blue Q the legendary manufacturer of life-improving, joy-bringing, mind-altering, universally praised products (since 1988).

This book is a collection of peoples shoes and their stories. We want you to photograph your most very favorite shoes while wearing them (on your feet), photograph your face, and tell us why your shoes are sooo special to you. We will collect all the best submissions and compile them into a super cute little book. If your images/story are chosen for inclusion, you and your shoes will be immortalized in print and you will receive 5 free copies of the book.

To enter please submit here:
1. a photo of your face
2. a photo of your shoes on your feet
3. the story of your shoes - put it in the caption area of your shoes photo.

I guess I should read for comprehension. I'm supposed to be wearing them. Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow when the light comes back. Meanwhile, here's why these are my "favorite shoes":

These aren’t pretty and they aren’t fashionable, but when you live in Canada and it gets to 40 below you want footwear that keeps your feet from freezing. While wearing these boots I’ve fed skinned chicken heads to lions, yogurt to a silverback gorilla, and sunflower seeds to budgies. I’ve had dirt kicked on me by a cranky warthog, shook the trunk of a baby elephant, and petted little stingrays. A very old emu once fell asleep on my shoulder and wallabies walked across my feet when I wore these boots.
