I’ve been working on this one for the last two weekends. Just finished today, it might stay black and white for a while.
A friendly drummer lent me his stack of Strangler’s CD’s and I’ve really enjoyed the trip beyond “Grip” and “Nice in Nice”. This entire drawing was done while listening to no music but The Stranglers…fortunately they’re all over the map musically so I didn’t get bored.
In no particular order there are references to: Waiting for the Meninblack, Two Sunspots, Peaches, Nice in Nice, Shakin’ Like a Leaf, Bear Cage, Rok It To The Moon, Straighten Out, Old Codger, The Raven, Sweden, Toiler On The Sea, Nuclear Device, Midnight Summer Dream, Big in America, Longships…and I guess the Moulin Rouge can stand in for a Baroque Bordello, but I was just looking for an excuse to draw the Moulin Rouge.
I really LOVE this! Those Moleskin's of yours are treasures.
BTW, I hadn't seen this before asking you about old stage sets, honestly! I was stunned when I saw your moon in there!

It was funny you asking, after I had done research already to find that particular moon image!
I'm trying to think of a subject for my next ink-a-thon. Perhaps the music of a certain Roky Erickson...for how can I resist drawing a two-headed dog in the Kremlin? Doing these inky things is like visiting another world. It's my drugs, man.

That's amazing. And the Stranglers are mental. I believe Paul Lynde once said, "they're animals!"

Gorgeous. Thank you for the Melies nod. Would love to see what comes from the fuel of some Roky.

I wish you'd publish a book of your moleskines - I'd be the first to slap my cash on the table for one of these gems.

Fantastic! I am especially pleased and reassured by the fungi clouds.
"Until there is no more food." And then what? BWAH HA HA HAAA!

I second 14, BOOK please! After you make one of these for me, that is. I will pay you, I will.

Aw hell no, girl. I only do *trades* with artists. I have a day job for that pesky "money" thing.
