By now you've seen one or more variations on this image; a lovely little rendering of Grumpy Cat holding a sign, content subject to change. What you probably don't know is the name of the artist who made the original image, because other people are cropping his signature out of the image and adding their own. Since it took me less than 7 minutes to find the original source of Grumpy Cat Sign via google reverse image search, I don't really think there's much of an excuse for "I don't know where this came from".

Dorothea Tanning (August 25, 1910 – January 31, 2012)

Dorothea Tanning was a painter, a sculptor, a writer, and was married to Max Ernst for several decades.

The "Oldest Living Surrealist" was a fascinating woman. I'm reading about her life right now and wondering why I didn't before. I only knew her as the author of the first book I painted over, and the wife of one of my favorite painters, but my loss. She was amazing.
