Fimo Demon

Fimo_demon

What better image for the first day of the new year than a one-eyed, three-legged demon? Happy January First!

Demon is made of fimo, wire, pipecleaners, yarn the ex left behind, wooden beads, a sun charm, embroidery thread, and an orange glass jewel from one of my favorite shopping places, the fantastic warehouse of Wolf E. Myrow in Providence, Rhode Island.

Lamb Bat

If a bat mated with a nauga, this is probably what their kid would look like.

Sheer brilliance from Etsy seller skullknocker.

Demons of the flood

Flood_demons_5

Here are some demons I made a while back, sitting happily in a spider web chair. The Demon of Lost Keys, The Demon of Air, three kittens and a devil all perch safely up above the water. Because yes, that is my basement at 7 AM this morning, after a freakishly heavy rainstorm (second one in a week). Note several inches of water on floor.

After 11 and a half hours of dealing with water issues I have learned four beautiful, beautiful words, and now I'd like to share them with you:

Sump Pump

Shop Vac

Oh yes, people. Small things, indeed, but after I hauled over 170 buckets of water out of the basement (after that I stopped counting) just to keep even with the water coming IN, the arrival of the Sump Pump was better than the appearance of angels.

Sweater monster #10: Triclops

Monster_10

As promised, a sweater triclops...sitting on an amp. I've got a little bit of a sleeve left, which will probably end up being a kitten; and that will be that for the striped Value Village sweater!

TMI for NPR

Tmi

NPR is having a contest to design a "handmade menorah or kinara (the candle holder for the Kwanzaa holiday) or a Christmas tree ornament." They're looking for "designs that reflect the news of 2006."

Well, someone already did a Suri Cruise ornament, so I thought I'd translate my Lindsay Lookoutbelowhan drawing into felt...especially since it's not just Lindsay anymore who is allowing her ladybits to be lit by a million flashbulbs. No, this has turned into a rather alarming trend with drunken pop stars and squint-eyed heiresses jumping on the bandwagon. I'm not sure what's next...but I'm pretty sure I don't want to see it.

Here is the Flickr set of NPR designs. So far my favorite is HO HO HO-abeaus Corpus Everyone!

Infertility doll

Infertility_doll

I've just found a bunch of my old dolls from the late '90's; I'll post them to Toy Monsters as I get them photographed.

Now here's something you don't see every day. I only made 5 of these; they freaked people out in the Seattle store where I had them for sale, but they sold fast in San Francisco. Who woulda thunk?

There's a little pocket in the back for condoms (or pills) and there's a beaded X across the naughty bits, with a little arrow pointing to the head to symbolize fertility of mind, not body.

More Monster Math

9_monsters

9 monsters out of one sweater and it looks like I can probably get a couple more out of the old beast.

Sweater Jellyfish

Sweater_jelly

As promised: A sweater jellyfish. Or maybe it's E. coli. I always get those confused.
