Giant Eggs of Dinosaur Found in Mongolia
Peking…..Above is shown Roy Chapman Andrews, zoologist and hunter, who was in charge of The Third Asiatic Expedition of the American Museum of Natural History, which has just returned here after five months on the Mongolian Plains. The specimens brought back by the expedition are declared to be the most interesting in recent years. Giant eggs, five or six inches long and proven to be those of dinosaurs of ten million years ago, are among the principal specimens. The prehistoric and colossal reptiles had nests just like ordinary fowl of the present era. The expedition is bringing back also about nine tons of fossils, comprising 72 skulls and twelve complete skeletons of these “terrible lizards” as the two Greek words forming the term “dinosaur” describe them.
Sugary like valentine candy, but celebrating a different holiday altogether, this gorgeous little creation by etsy seller ReFabulous is almost enough to make me want to get a cell phone. Do they make them in "call out only"?
I admit to a fondness for scrimshaw (growing up in New England will do that to a girl), so when I was digging around on Etsy today I was happy to come across this item for sale:
You are viewing a scrimshaw on a lower jaw bone from a deer. The bone has been bleached and cleaned, sanded and polished. The teeth have been fixed with polyurethene so they would stay in place. This bone scrimshaw is a signed piece with my initials, J.A. B. On one side the picture shows an octopus and a prehistoric looking fish. On back side is a scene of a pond with ducks, grass and cattails. The bone measures about 7 1/4" long and at one end 3 1/2".
The 26th of December, when my thoughts turn to pugilistic kangaroos.

These shirts are going fast (just a few Smalls and Mediums left, so Large shirt fans are out of luck), but here's the blurb anyway from Etsy seller eruditewit:
A nerdy take on the 'classic' AC/DC logo. Nicola Tesla is credited for the discovery of alternating current (AC) while Thomas Edison was a large proponent for direct current (DC). The history of the Current Wars is very interesting and you should all wikipedia it.
My neverending love of cheesy dinosaur sculptures was fed today when I found this ebay auction.
The seller writes: You Are looking at a Very Rare, Late 50's,Early 60's Sinclair ( Dino ) The Dinosaur. He is made of Thick fiberglass and mounted on 1.5 inch thick plywood, and is 8 and a half feet long by 3 feet wide.He used to be mounted in front of my Great Uncle's Sinclair Gas Station on Old Route 66.The fiberglass is in perfect shape (no cracks or breaks). It was well kept all of these years in a Shed. When I aquired (Dino),he was the Original Sinclair (Green)I had this one Custom Painted By a Popular Studio Artist to look like a real Brontosaurs, but it could easily be put back to the original green.
For only $4,500.00 you can own this beauty. What a great Christmas some dinosaur lover is going to have!
Heartbreaking works of extreme genius from Etsy seller hannapt.
Wonderful jewelry from Etsy sellers marybird and jessitaylor.
One of my favorite movies ever, and it showed up in my bag o' birthday stuff today! Whoo hoo! Shirley MacLaine marries Dick Van Dyke, Paul Newman, Gene Kelly, Robert Mitchum and Dean Martin (not all at the same time) and lives to tell the tale. Not to be missed: Robert Mitchum's death scene, Paul Newman's sexy painting machine, and the champagne glass bed.
