Pool Table Light Pools

This past weekend we went to Winnipeg for a show. It was toe-biting cold, the jaywalkers are crazy, the trees wear belts, and store lights seem to be either klieg or 40 watts, with nothing in between. Still, people seemed friendly, the gig was a lot of fun, and we finally got to meet El Negro Magnifico!

When you're a rock wife, you have large chunks of time to kill while waiting for the show to begin. I've learned to bring my camera and take shots of bar lights which glow like an underwater midnight Christmas world. This pool table was interesting because the reflections were not visible to the human eye, only showing up in photographs.

The Wonderful Coat

A thing of beauty I saw in San Francisco on Halloween. Fortunately it didn't come in "girls who eat carbs" sizes, because I would have had to bring one home, and the coat closet has reached maximum overload already.

Halloween in Clarion Alley

 On Halloween Day I was introduced to one of the most amazing places I've ever seen. Clarion Alley is an ever evolving corridor of art, angst, secret messages and cries from the subconcious, a technicolor sprawl of mind dust.

The Golden Monkey

The taxidermy at the Harvard Museum of Natural History is fascinating stuff. It's old, it's lumpy, and it was made by people who obviously wanted to cheer things up a bit by adding odd grins and glass teddy bear eyes to the dead skin party. Most of the monkeys are screaming horrors (examples here and here). This one merely looks puzzled. He looks like he's thinking, well...how did I get here?
