The last time I was at Kamala's place she showed me her latest bookstore score; The Ocean At Home: An Illustrated History of the Aquarium. It's filled with illustrations of crazy fish tanks and bizarre undersea worlds. My favorite is a sort of birdcage in a fishbowl; a glass bubble inside an aquarium where a bird could fly up from the cage below to commune with his finny friends.
One of my favorite blogs has a little article and example of this strange invention, complete with a scene of a seascape painted on the glass. I can't imagine this ever worked in real life the way the creator imagined it would, but it was fun to paint the idea.

Oooooo... I love this piece!

I thought for sure you'd beat me to doing a piece about the birdcage aquarium! You bought this book too, didn't you? I still need to pick up a copy!

Oh, I'm still thinking about it... hmmm... maybe a pirate twist??
Yes, I did get the book. My only complaint is that the images are so small it's hard to make out the details.
