Yay! I just picked up a couple of copies of this book I did the cover for from the publisher. Painstakingly written and compiled over the past decade by my dad, Fred Bagley, it consists of biographies of nine Canadians with life-altering wartime experience. Lotsa interviews, photos and touching, often hair-raising, tales within. The editor and layout cat, James Dangerous, did a fantastic job pulling this 400 page beast together.

Mysteries of Calgary: Airport Dinosaurs

Airport_dino_1

Alberta is a place with some major pest problems. Sure, they're awfully proud of that whole "province without rats" thing, but there are worse things than rats.

Like airport dinosaurs.

Or monsters in the snow.

Or the trash-can destroying triceratops

Or mammoths in the light rail stations.

Or giant lizards menacing rest stops.

Or entire towns overrun by the dinosaur blight.

Although it all pales in comparison to that bit of unpleasantness that occurs here every year in July.

I couldn't resist posting this here as well. Because the future is here today - now. They've come up with a personal protection Taser that not only comes in designer colours and leopard print, but apparently plays music through the computerized holster or something. What? Does that make sense to anyone? I'm appreciating the pure "try to top that one" craziness of it. Play Misty for me.

Fine Dining in Banff

500small

A popular movie poster parodied up for a rather distressing FFWD story about the alarming decline in the grizzly population in Alberta. At last count, they were down to just 500 of the fuzzy guys, the lowest number ever.
