On Friday night we went to see this art installation. I love churches, and can't resist one that's upside down.
From the press release: "Watch as the internationally renowned sculpture’s lights get switched on and a gentle beam of light shines through the sparkling red Venetian glass panels. The artwork titled Device to Root Out Evil was created by internationally acclaimed artist Dennis Oppenheim and is installed in TORODE’s new development in Ramsay, one of Calgary’s most historic and artistic neighbourhoods."
I'm glad Vancouver was able to unload this piece of junk - it was blocking the view of Coal Harbour and mountains. They have this tendency here to put up large cumbersome sculptures on beaches and waterfronts, just in case the scenic beauty needed a little jazzin' up with bullshit art.

There is no scenic beauty in Calgary, so it's an improvement here!

It's a bit weird, but yes, I can see a scenic appeal to it. I do feel that it should have been placed some where where it can't restrict the view of something else, but anyway, it still looks cool.
