Erin and Kamala, being the sort of intelligent people who didn't grow up in New Hampshire in unheated houses or move to Texas, Canada later in their lives, have no concept of life below zero. They wondered, "do people go outside up there?"
Well, most of them seem to have cars, just like in regular civilization. For those of us who transit publicly, I have drawn a helpful diagram on how to survive brutal temperatures with articles found around the house (full illustration here).
Remember, at 40 below zero, exposed skin can freeze in 10 minutes. Nostrils feel like they're full of fur (your nose hairs freeze), your eyelashes feel sticky or heavy (moisture freezes on each lash) and snow squeaks loudly when you step on it.
I dedicate this drawing to the month of February. Please...just go away now!
Holy Jesus. You are insane. When you guys finally depart that infernal hell hole you should move somewhere equatorial.

It is a hell hole. I ain't denyin’ it. 9 more years to go…
Thing is, I don’t need to be hot. I just want to be un-cold. I LOVED the weather in Seattle!
